Fall Cpl Class Saturday will be on November 23 2024. Because it gets dark at 5:30 Pm The state mandatory shooting qualification portion of the class will be the following day on Sunday November the 24th at the same location.

Alba Sportsman’s Club 5225 County Road 620 Alba Michigan 49611. This is a state mandated 8 hour class starting 9:00 AM ending about 5:30 PM. This will be the last class of the year at this location.

The main purpose of the hunter education field day course is to provide an alternative to the traditional course. This course is the same as the traditional hunter education course; however, the classroom portion is completed by either, online training or as a take home study format.

In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. There are two different formats for successfully completing the field day course. Students must take either, the online course or the take home study, then complete the field day in order to earn a hunter safety certificate. Students choosing the online course followed by the field day must present a copy of their certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course at the start of the field day. The online course is fee based and can be taken at https://www.hunter-ed.com/michigan/. The second format is take home study. Students register for the field day and pick up the student manual, a minimum of one week prior to the field day. Take home study students must complete the chapter review questions and present them at the start of the field day. Michigan’s hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.

About the Field Day:

In person field day

4 hours minimum

Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail)

Maximum $10 fee

No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.

A hunter safety field day will be held at the Alba Sportsman’s Club in Alba. For students opting to take the home study course, study books will be available for pickup at the Sportsman's club on July 9th 2024 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. A parent or guardian must accompany a child under the age of 10. This class is open to those who have taken the online hunter safety course and have a course completion certificate. Or, those who have completed the home study course and have completed all of the chapter reviews in the study book. You MUST bring your certificate of completion of the online hunter safety course or your completed study book to the field day. You may want to bring your own snack/drink as this will not be provided. The class is 6 hours long, part of the class may be held outside. Please plan accordingly. If you are a parent/guardian who is accompanying your child you do NOT need to register as a student unless you will be taking the class and needing hunter safety as well. If you wish to come along with a student and not take the class yourself that is alright but if this is the case please do NOT enroll yourself in the class.

Looking for a safe location to sight in your hunting rifle before the big day? Then join us on the range October 26th to insure you are on target prior to the opening day for deer season.

We will provide the targets and range safety officers to assist in sighting in your rifles. You bring the firearm and ammunition to shoot with. All are welcome, members shoot for free and non members are $5.00.
